Between the Seas Residency 2026

Για άλλη μια χρονιά, είχαμε τη χαρά να συμμετέχουμε στο πρωτοποριακό πρόγραμμα καλλιτεχνικής φιλοξενίας του οργανισμού Between the Seas: Mediterranean Performing Arts. Η συγκεκριμένη δράση, με εμπνευστή και οδηγό την Ακτίνα Σταθάκη, μας προσέφερε εκ νέου τη μοναδική ευκαιρία να έρθουμε σε επαφή και να συνομιλήσουμε με δημιουργούς από όλο τον κόσμο. Μας επέτρεψε να γνωρίσουμε σύγχρονα έργα και να παρακολουθήσουμε από κοντά το ταξίδι της δημιουργίας: από την αρχική σύλληψη μέχρι την τελική εκτέλεση. Η φετινή διοργάνωση ήταν αφιερωμένη στη σύγχρονη βαλκανική δραματουργία, και στο πλαίσιο αυτής, φιλοξενήθηκαν στην Κυμοθόη δύο θεατρικές δράσεις.
«Την Παρασκευή 10/7 με μια εξαιρετική ομάδα αποτελούμενη απο γυναίκες ηλικιών 19-70 ετών, κόρες, μητέρες, γιαγιάδες, σύντροφοι, εργαζόμενες, δημιουργούς με οικογένειες εξ αίματος ή εξ αγχιστείας, λάτρεις των γατιών και των γλυκών, διαβάσαμε το έργο της Γιάνα Μιλοβόγιεβιτς "Φοβόμαστε. Μαθαίνουμε να Μετράμε" και πραγματοποιήσαμε θεατρικές ασκήσεις πάνω στις θεματικές του έργου που μας έδωσαν πάρα πολλή τροφή για σκέψεις, συζητήσεις, μοιρασμα αγωνιών και πίστης. Πολλές ευχαριστίες στη Γιάνα, στην Αριάννα, στη Μαρία, στη Φωτεινή, τη Σοφία, την Κωνσταντίνα, τη Χρυσώ, τη Χρυσούλα, τη Μυρτώ την Καλλιόπη.»
Το Σάββατο 12/7 παρουσιάστηκε, σε μορφή θεατρικής ανάγνωσης, το ψυχεδελικό-σουρεαλιστικό ταξίδι του Αρμιν Μπέρχεμ "11 λεπτά στο διάστημα". Σε μετάφραση και σκηνοθεσία Ακτίνας Σταθάκη, ερμηνεία Αριαννας Χατζηγαλανού και με τη Φωτεινή Καραγιάννη στα decks. Ύστερα από την παρουσίαση ακολούθησε συζήτηση με το κοινό.
Ευχαριστούμε θερμά τον οργανισμό Between the Seas, την Ακτίνα Σταθάκη, καθώς και όλες και όλους όσοι συνέβαλαν σε αυτή τη συνάντηση. Η φιλοξενία και οι δράσεις πραγματοποιήθηκαν σε εθελοντική βάση, με αγάπη για το θέατρο και την καλλιτεχνική δημιουργία, ενώ οι παρουσιάσεις ήταν δωρεάν και ανοιχτές στο κοινό, με στόχο την ελεύθερη πρόσβαση όλων στη σύγχρονη θεατρική έκφραση και τον διάλογο γύρω από αυτήν.

Once again, we had the pleasure of taking part in the pioneering artistic residency programme of Between the Seas: Mediterranean Performing Arts. This initiative, conceived and guided by Aktina Stathaki, once again offered us the unique opportunity to connect and engage in dialogue with artists from all over the world. It allowed us to discover contemporary works and witness the creative journey up close, from the initial concept to the final performance. This year’s programme was dedicated to contemporary Balkan playwriting, and as part of it, two theatrical events were hosted at Kymothoi.
“On Friday, 10 July, together with an extraordinary group of women aged 19–70 — daughters, mothers, grandmothers, partners, working women, creators, women with families by blood or by marriage, cat lovers and sweet-toothed enthusiasts — we read Jana Milovojević’s play We Are Afraid. We Are Learning to Count and took part in theatre exercises exploring the themes of the work. The experience gave us so much food for thought, sparking conversations and creating space to share our anxieties and our faith. Many thanks to Jana, Arianna, Maria, Fotini, Sofia, Konstantina, Chryso, Chrysoula, Myrto and Kalliopi.”
On Saturday, 12 July, Armin Berchem’s psychedelic-surrealist journey, 11 Minutes in Space, was presented as a staged reading. The translation and direction were by Aktina Stathaki, with Arianna Hatzigalano performing and Fotini Karagianni on the decks. The presentation was followed by a discussion with the audience.
We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Between the Seas, Aktina Stathaki, and everyone who contributed to making this gathering possible. The residency and activities were organised on a voluntary basis, driven by a shared love of theatre and artistic creation. All presentations were free of charge and open to the public, with the aim of making contemporary theatrical expression accessible to everyone and encouraging dialogue around it.
